Commentary on ACIM Lesson 323

What is possible if 'fear is gone and only love remains'? It is an extremely profound question when actually looked at. For me personally, I am not sure where it would exactly lead, but I have an idea that I would be sent--- at least for a while--- to work with those that I have previously feared simply because this is what seems to be happening already. And as this would be what I would prescribe to another in 'shoes similar to mine', I expect God would allow me to continue taking the same medicine. It would be for the purpose of being a graduation exercise... in 'loving your enemies'. Because of course, if God's love is truly present as the vibration I/you/we transmit, the 'enemy-ness' will disappear, and something else will then arise.... something we usually call by the name 'brotherhood'.

The thing about brotherhood is that it is not a 'false image or idol' leading to an extension of ego worship at an alter bearing no fruit. It is instead a most holy relatedness that leads directly to intimate communion. And this is the sum of all spirituality, as far as the heart can see--- to live in spiritual faith is to know the communion of the Maker and the Creation as the source of our very life. Without a doubt or question, we learn to hide nothing.... that is brotherhood, and that is spiritual communion. With brotherhood as a fact, so is also the rebirthing within us of the memory of God. How else to 'KNOW' God but to share His actual memories? For in them is all Knowledge of all times and places and events and dreams of all beings who have ever existed. And the sum distillation of all that is only a hint at the depth of Divine Wisdom. Pretty foolish to let our egos convince us that we might be 'smarter than God'. That foolishness will only create a steep slide back into the sewer (so to speak).

Anyway, the point of fear being gone is that action can be done in peace and without hate or anger. What action? Any that you are assigned, by which I mean, that you know it is your job to do THAT. Without fear stopping us, and with peace as our foundation, and love as our motivator, great leadership is possible, for no petty motives dominate. All this leads to a life of selfless service, which is as far as I can see, both in my own life and in the lives of the examples I have watched and/or studied, THE life most fulfilled.

Lesson 323

I gladly make the "sacrifice" of fear.

Here is the only "sacrifice" You ask of Your beloved Son; You ask him to give up all suffering, all sense of loss and sadness, all anxiety and doubt, and freely let Your Love come streaming in to his awareness, healing him of pain, and giving him Your Own eternal joy. Such is the "sacrifice" You ask of me, and one I gladly make; the only "cost" of restoration of Your memory to me, for the salvation of the world.

And as we pay the debt we owe to truth,–a debt that merely is the letting go of self-deceptions and of images we worshipped falsely–truth returns to us in wholeness and in joy. We are deceived no longer. Love has now returned to our awareness. And we are at peace again, for fear has gone and only love remains.
