Commentary on ACIM Lesson 313
© 2010 Rev. David Seacord
Loving God is the most natural thing in the world. It is so natural that it does not have to be learned.... for it is really just the true joy of being alive, the heart's fullness of being connected to ourselves and those we share love with, the optimism of knowing that life is good. It exudes from us as our happiness. It is the in-and-out breath of our very life.
It is when we begin to question this goodness that we lose this certainty, this Love of 'God', this connection to the Infinite Beingness of our Most Holy Self. To question the goodness of all that IS, that is the violation that throws us into inner darkness. For the impossible unimaginable thought that somehow there is a state of being OUTSIDE OF GOD now seems possible.
With the impossible now seeming possible, we are thrown into confusion--- and the torment between the ears rages, consuming our lives until something STOPS inside of us. What stops? Only our imagined identity---the thing we have habituated above all else--- our concretized 'I' sense....
Usually the first time this happens we think of it as 'accidental', (but it's not)... and once awakened, we are never completely ever fully asleep again... Now, in time perhaps years or lifetimes later, we find ourselves HERE, in whatever circumstances we are surrounded by, with the deepening call to become masterful, to be able to STOP at will.... at God's Will. This is simply so that we can hear, by soulful listening, what our divine directive is in this moment. Can you imagine a more fulfilled life than one lived under God's direct guidance? That is the possibility of such mastery.
It is not a mastery of power, or strategy, or domination. It is simply a mastery of right relatedness. In right relatedness, nothing is missing, nothing is forced, nothing is (dualistically) right vs. wrong. In right relatedness, there is no anxiety about our personal future or past, nor is there disturbance of the heart when the world is in turbulence. In right relatedness, what is available is peace of mind regardless of circumstances.
Therefore, our peace of mind is a good thermometer of our current state, accurately reflective of the condition of our 'right relatedness'. It will tell us, if we remember to willingly ask it, exactly what direction we need to go in (or what we need let-go of) to re-enter 'the childlike, natural and pristinely innocent Love of God'.
Namaste,
David

Lesson 313
Now let a new perception come to me.
Father, there is a vision which beholds all things as sinless, so that fear has gone, and where it was is love invited in. And love will come wherever it is asked. This vision is Your gift. The eyes of Christ look on a world forgiven. In His sight are all its sins forgiven, for He sees no sin in anything He looks upon. Now let His true perception come to me, that I may waken from the dream of sin and look within upon my sinlessness, which You have kept completely undefiled upon the altar to Your holy Son, the Self with which I would identify.
Let us today behold each other in the sight of Christ. How beautiful we are! How holy and how loving! Brother, come and join with me today. We save the world when we have joined. For in our vision it becomes as holy as the light in us.
