Commentary on ACIM Lesson 295

© 2010 Rev. David Seacord

The Holy Spirit looks through me today.

As I read todays lesson, I realized that there is one line in it that is completely radical to the way the world normally thinks. It is the line "As I am saved, the world is saved with me."

There is something very deep and freeing in this, for it is saying that by simply saving ourselves, we are also saving the world. It is also saying that it is impossible to 'go it alone'. This point of view (in my experience) does have lip service in mainstream Protestant Christianity, but it seems to me to not be deeply understood. Perhaps this is simply a function of human nature. In the beginning of Christianity, what was normal was communal living, with all the wealth pooled together, and very few personal possessions. In a way, it was an inspired and idealistic period somewhat similar to the hippy communes and cultures of my youth. But the continuum of human institutional evolution has historically been from a creation point during this kind of idealism, then through stages of 'practical compromise' and then eventually, simply to 'institutional survival'. Governments have generally followed the same course, of course.

So what is very freeing to me in the line I quoted above is simply the recognition that it is not necessary to be a group participant to contribute to 'saving/transforming the world'.... because everything is already connected. Therefore, as we do our own personal sadhana, it is impossible not to be bringing to the worlds vibratory health a greater quantum mass of truth-aligned energy. That energy is charging the 'God-readiness' of humanity. When the time ordained for the true mass-awakening arrives, it is this energy that will provide the ignition capital.

Therefore, I suggest living neither in-group nor not in-group, for both are limitations. Be free, and play with both or neither, as your heart leads you. But always remember that nothing breaks apart the one trueness. Let us see that every where and when. That would be 'saving the world'.

Namaste,

David

Lesson 295

The Holy Spirit looks through me today.

Christ asks that He may use my eyes today, and thus redeem the world. He asks this gift that He may offer peace of mind to me, and take away all terror and all pain. And as they are removed from me, the dreams that seemed to settle on the world are gone. Redemption must be one. As I am saved, the world is saved with me. For all of us must be redeemed together. Fear appears in many different forms, but love is one.

My Father, Christ has asked a gift of me, and one I give that it be given me. Help me to use the eyes of Christ today, and thus allow the Holy Spirit's Love to bless all things which I may look upon, that His forgiving Love may rest on me.
