Commentary on ACIM Lesson 332

© Rev. David Seacord

I remember a time many years ago that I was carrying a very heavy burden of guilt. By grace, my Sufi teacher was still alive at that time and was visiting the region and teaching. I went to see him, and then I asked for a blessing, which he gave me. What I remember now is the joy that my heart felt to be forgiven and blessed. It changed my life, for true forgiveness instantly erases the past. I so felt that.... I could once again hold my head up, face life without shame, and believe in my own worth.

Guilt is fear. Love is forgiveness. What else is important to know or remember when we find ourself listening to ANYTHING other than our Voice for God?

We all make mistakes. That is actually is why we are here.... not as a punishment, but as the opportunity to unlearn what created the mistakes, and then re-learn the God-guided path that heals all error. As the Course says: The Holy Spirit loves a happy learner. That happiness is a gift....the gift of surrendering our way to the God-way. Because we cannot not then know the truth of our forgivenness.

Until we know that, there is something still waiting for us. I call it 'complete right relatedness'. Others also use the word 'wholeness', and the Course calls it 'salvation'. Same/same. Just like One/One/One/One/One makes a blessing circle without an opposite... :-) ..... showering our true unity upon us all.

Namaste,

David

Lesson 332

Fear binds the world. Forgiveness sets it free.

The ego makes illusions. Truth undoes its evil dreams by shining them away. Truth never makes attack. It merely is. And by its presence is the mind recalled from fantasies, awaking to the real. Forgiveness bids this presence enter in, and take its rightful place within the mind. Without forgiveness is the mind in chains, believing in its own futility. Yet with forgiveness does the light shine through the dream of darkness, offering it hope, and giving it the means to realize the freedom that is its inheritance.

We would not bind the world again today. Fear holds it prisoner. And yet Your Love has given us the means to set it free. Father, we would release it now. For as we offer freedom, it is given us. And we would not remain as prisoners, while You are holding freedom out to us.
