Commentary on ACIM Lesson 240
© 2010 Rev. David Seacord
Fear is not justified in any form.
Today the Course is playing a bit of hardball. It says: "Nothing is this world is true", for example. What it is really saying is that we cannot see anything if what we are seeing is 'this world'. What it is saying is that we are blind, and that we are blind that we are blind. Which is so unfortunate, as there is a different view, from a different viewpoint, where the world looks different. We are told what it looks like from this different viewpoint is: 'light'. That all beings and all things contain light as the core of their essences. The Course says when we beginning to see light being emitted from the edges of everything, we can know we are beginning to see reality as it is.
Why don't we see 'reality as it is'? For most of us, the answer is that we are afraid to. It is the big conundrum.... that we use our fears to protect us from the destination we most desire. We become experts at deceiving ourselves, making up reasons for our failures to be fully God's Love in this world. This need not be, when our heart is clear about it's Source of power.
This true power of the heart has one purpose: to be Divine Love. For simply being Perfect Love is enough to end any fear.
Namaste,
David
ps.... I wish to make a literary suggestion. Read the book called "The Shack" by William P. Young. Do it as soon as you can. It is an important read.

Lesson 240
Fear is not justified in any form.
Fear is deception. It attests that you have seen yourself as you could never be, and therefore look upon a world which is impossible. Not one thing in this world is true. It does not matter what the form in which it may appear. It witnesses but to your own illusions of yourself. Let us not be deceived today. We are the Sons of God. There is no fear in us, for we are each a part of Love Itself.
How foolish are our fears! Would You allow Your Son to suffer? Give us faith today to recognize Your Son, and set him free. Let us forgive him in Your Name, that we may understand his holiness, and feel the love for him which is Your Own as well.
