Commentary on ACIM Lesson 243
© 2010 Rev. David Seacord
Today I will judge nothing that occurs.
As I write these words, my father's cremation chamber cools. Now, the physical goodbyes are final, and what remains must live in the hearts of we who knew and loved him.
I have stayed close to this journey that I may know it intimately, for I am on it also. Carlos Castanada books taught this as the center of a shaman's training.... this 'always-presence' of death so often forgotten in the midst of life, until when it appears to the unprepared, it is as a total surprise. This I am seeing is not wisdom, nor does it lead to greatness of being. What does that is being able to hold a very long view of this world, and in particular, a very long view aligned with the view of our God/Goddess/Godness.
This view is a gift, I think, given those willing to cultivate a quietude of mind so that the song of the heart can be heard over the noise of the world. Each day I imagine this circle increasing in this capacity, that wherever we are in this world, we are able to be used of spirit to bring holiness into our environment. That to me is our purpose, regardless of my/your past failures to do so. They were our stair-steps to arrive to HERE, but are not ever justification for despair now. In the long view given by holiness, there is no reason for despair. For wholeness is also certainty of purpose.
The holiness that would use our lives would have us be miracle workers with certainty of the great return of Remembrance to the hearts of mankind. We do not have to know how this will be done, we just must be willing to act with God's Love as we are called. All the rest will be taken care of, for we are not alone.
The greatest peace we will ever experience is therefore not ever something attained.... it is the peace given us by grace when we are simply willing to follow in faith, the callings of Perfect Love.
Namaste,
David

Lesson 243
Today I will judge nothing that occurs.
I will be honest with myself today. I will not think that I already know what must remain beyond my present grasp. I will not think I understand the whole from bits of my perception, which are all that I can see. Today I recognize that this is so. And so I am relieved of judgments that I cannot make. Thus do I free myself and what I look upon, to be in peace as God created us.
Father, today I leave creation free to be itself. I honor all its parts, in which I am included. We are one because each part contains Your memory, and truth must shine in all of us as one.
