Commentary on ACIM Lesson 249

Forgiveness ends all suffering and loss.
Is the idea of returning our minds to God both highly attractive and, at the same time, a bit scary? If so, we/I/you stand at a fork in the road. Although the choice of direction has already been make by our true being, we/I/you may not know it yet. The Course tells us not to fear, that we are already in God's hands, no matter that we may delay awakening to that a bit. When we do, we will see that all that we experience is in some way necessary. I find that incredibly liberating. For to me, it means that I can stop judging myself. If you are like me, you judge yourself much harder than you do other people. Of course it is an egoic thing, this judging either others or ourselves, but man can we forget that in the thick of the tizzy.
Probably the toughest hole to dig ourselves out of when we are judging ourselves are the ones that are shame based. For me, it can seem like I just have no right to exist, if I let that stuff stick on me. But there is always a moment these days now, right at the beginning, where I am awake, and can see the shameball about to hit me. That is pure grace, and in that moment, I hit my knees. And confess. For that is the only way the shame will not stick. Resist, and it sticks. Deny, and it sticks. But Confess, and it is forgiven.
Ah, the empowerment it is to live a forgiven life. To be able to stand before man and God with head upright despite the historical facts of the past, with nothing to hide or fear. This is exactly what it is to be a lightworker, for when there is nothing to hide or fear, soul becomes clearly visible. And so does the light of our soul.
This is the light we were actually born of, and it is to this light we return. And, as the Course teaches, the closer we are to completing this return, the more we will recognize that this journey we have been on actually never happened. Except as a physical-seeming dream. That is why the choice (back at the fork in the road) has already been made. Because we are all already at Home. And safely tucked into our Father/Mother's arms. Dreaming perhaps, but listening also to the lullaby being sung to us by our Beloved.
The only thing to get is that it is all covered.
Namaste,
David

Lesson 249
Forgiveness ends all suffering and loss.
Forgiveness paints a picture of a world where suffering is over, loss becomes impossible and anger makes no sense. Attack is gone, and madness has an end. What suffering is now conceivable? What loss can be sustained? The world becomes a place of joy, abundance, charity and endless giving. It is now so like to Heaven that it quickly is transformed into the light that it reflects. And so the journey which the Son of God began has ended in the light from which he came.
Father, we would return our minds to You. We have betrayed them, held them in a vise of bitterness, and frightened them with thoughts of violence and death. Now would we rest again in You, as You created us.
