Commentary inspired by ACIM Lesson 19
©2010 Rev. David Seacord

I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my thoughts.

I am not alone. Nor do I think alone. The 'hypnosis' is shared. How could it be otherwise? Did we not all once believe we were individuals? Did we not all choose to experience this dream of entering an individualized incarnation? Why? Do you not remember as you prepared for your birth, the soul agreements you made? The choices of when and where and how that would become the content and curriculum of 'the play of your life'? Besides knowing we are not alone, truly knowing ourselves requires understanding that there are no accidents. It is, this dream, a non-divisible and non-accidental domain. Being able to appreciate the beauty of this life requires that we realize it is our own creation.

Only minds can join. This is clearly stated in the Course many times. Thus, you and I can join. We can know ourselves as each other. It is an easy thing to see, once we are willing. It is the source of actual happiness also. Happiness in never a private experience. We all rejoice at 'anothers' successful learning because everything learned by anyone of us upgrades all of us. This is the fruit of incarnation: By experience, to discover we are everything.

In practical terms, we cease resisting. Why resist what we agreed to? What we choose? Does the great actor resist the part? No, they play it with great attention, putting themselves fully into the moment, creating and contributing every nuance of believability possible. A Plays purpose is to enthrall us, move us, thrill us, and bring us INTO ONE MIND. The same is true of this very rich life.

Namaste,

David
