Commentary on ACIM 268

© 2010 Rev. David Seacord

Let all things be exactly as they are.

As I read todays lesson, I recognized in it an extremely important distinction.... what 'letting it be' really means....

It means: Do not add 'not God' to God. What I mean is that all things created by God just BE, but we don't. We don't just be, because we have made up that we are different, that we are 'individual', that we each have the right to 'do our thing'. We have very busy minds telling us what is good for us, and what we ought to do. And most of the time, we do whatever our dominate I-voice says (unless our passive I-voice freaks out, I mean).

Anyway, all this being busy NOT BEING BEING is what gets us in lot of trouble and dramas. It distorts Reality into 'sickly forms'. What is available out of today's lesson is the path to the world God originally created (which yes, still exists). It is the withdrawal of any 'forcing the river'. It is being willing to wait for what we desire to come to us like a gift, instead of forcing, demanding or manipulation. It is being willing to be OK with exactly 'how it is', whether we get our desired thing, or not.

Ultimately, it is always trusting God to lead, and knowing that He/She knows 'the way that is best' for each of us.

This literally leaves us 'without a care in the world', no matter how much responsibility we carry.

That is what a life of 'sweet grace' is like, when 'letting it be' is our foundation.

Namaste,

David
