Commetary on ACIM Lesson 263

© 2010 Rev. David Seacord

My holy vision see all things as pure.

To see all things as pure means to see them with love. I do not believe it means to see that which brings increased suffering to my brothers as 'God's Will'. For God's Will is that no one suffer, and no one be in want, and no one be dishonored in their beingness by being made a slave (in whatever way). All these things arise as violations of our unity, our brotherhoodness, our relatedness.... none of which would arise if true love were understood.

I am much impressed by our sister Marianne Williamson, who's stand for social and physical justice is INSIDE her amazingly profound spiritual insightfulness. She has arrived at a place where she cannot and does not use her spiritually as a reason to stand by and act not. For not acting is acting, it is allowing that which is not of God, and therefore not real, to continue to appear as if it were Real.

All the stories/jokes I have ever heard of 'St. Peter's Gate' encounters have to do with our accountabilities.... were we or were we not our brothers keeper? This is not being a keeper as in 'a jailer', but rather, as in 'an upholder (keeper) of the brotherhood', and by being a living reminder of our united mission: to have the presence of God's Love alive in every heart existing in this dimension. As the Course teachers us, we do not have to do it all.... our assignments are very specific... but in my own experience, when I find myself wanting to walk away or escape being a voice for God/Love/Oneness/Respect/Openness/Honesty/Truth/etc, it is exactlythere that my mission has called me, to grow 'in stature and favor, with God, and man'. (That's from a biblical quote about Jesus...).

Our 'job' is to call our egoically-maddened brothers/sisters back to sanity, not to give them the keys to create more havoc upon this God's Earth. And this is done by teaching (by being) accountability. Using the eyes of Christ, let us see the still existent light in all men, all women, all beings. When that is seen it can be spoken to, as the speaking to that in 'another' initiates the awakening of our oneness. It is our ultimate value... to be of service in the awakening of 'our self in other bodies'. There is no love greater. All that it requires is being willing to let love teach us to be truly fearless. Then trusting God to 'make it so'.

Namaste,

David
