Commentary on ACIM Lesson 264

I am surrounded by the love of God.

What this means is I/we are INSIDE of God. In the same way that a cell of our body is inside us, we are inside God. This is true whether we travel a million miles or a million light years, for there is no end to God's being.... it IS all that IS, was, or ever will be, beyond imagination, thought, knowledge, or belief.

So, if this is 'gotten', the everything else in the universe that appears to counter the existence of God with some form of doubt begins to appear a bit as a joke... and it is, a huge cosmic joke. For where/what is 'outside of God'?

But that joke leaves us free, for if we get it, really, we have to see that we are inheritors of unlimitedness ourselves. That means we can choose to be anyone, or do anything.

Now, here's the catch.... it's called integrity. Remember Luke Skywalker/Darth Vader? The Force, the dark side, the light side? Once, years ago, I experienced a powerful insight... it was: that as one grows in spiritual awareness one's personal power increases... and then, what keeps one 'serving the light' instead of 'the ego (the dark side) was the purity of our heart, i.e., our integrity.

In other words, the spiritual journey is an increasingly conscious CHOICE. The only 'real' consequence of serving the ego is more & looooooooooonger personal suffering, interspersed with periods of the illusions of happiness. Just like the life we are leading now. Which we are leading because we choose to. At one point in time, we said, 'That's the life for me!'.....and placed our order. Yet in the end it always comes down to this... we either serve Love or we serve fear. The grace being given us by God is that we are allowed to switch allegiance gradually, over time, with the help of innumerable wayshowers, gurus, teachers, and well placed friends who deliver whatever it is we need 'right on time'. Right on time means "when we are finally ready".

This Course is like a fruit ripening process. A natural fruit ripening process. All it requires is 'staying in the light', and we will fulfill our journeys purpose. That purpose is very simple. It is to return to selflessness, and thereby know ourselves as Divine Love.
